My MacKenzie Childs Inspired Guest Bedroom!

I said that our house is finally considered complete.
Warning...loads of pictures below!!!!!!!

No more major tear up jobs that require my young-and-cute-handy-dandy-handyman being here, but I did enjoy him here and the process every time. However, it will never be complete as far as changing decor and decorating! You know how that goes. I thought I would spend more time just enjoying the fact that IT WAS DONE! That was until I got the urge to sew and fell in love with this fabric from Hobby Lobby...
The plan in my head was to find a fabric that I would fall in love with. One that looks vintage, one that would coordinate with my green matelasse bedding, the current wall color and this green chair (you will see that I ended up not even using this chair). Simple right? I didn't think so but this fabric was totally different from the green toile that I had previously made and used in this room and fit all the criteria I had set.

I fell in love

I decided on making grommet drapery panels first. It was easier to do than I expected and I lined them as well. At the last minute, I had enough tan tassle fringe to add down the middle sides of the drapes to match what I had put on the lace store-bought curtains.

Then came the dust ruffle for the larger mattresses since I gave away the twin mattresses to a boy in need during the Christmas season. But first, notice under the drapes, my take on a MacKenzie Childs tuffet!
See it peeking from the edge of the bed?
Okay, Here it is...
It was during all this sewing that it popped into my head..."I needed to accent this fabric with something". That something ended up being my favorite go-to fabric...black and white check!
I made two accent pillows that are different than anything that I have seen before and have so much whimsy...

Here is a close up of them. A matching Matelasse pillow came with the coverlet, I cut that pillow up to be able to use the green on this bolster pillow.
While sewing these, I realized that this room was becoming MacKenzie Childs Inspired. So, I went to other rooms in the house and retrieved more of my MC Inspired projects...Like this chair, (the tuffet I made to go with this chair),

The teacup chandelier that I made for in this room seemed so appropriate too!
And this little table that I painted to look like one of their pieces.

I was able to leave the cream and butter wall color the same. Here is a vintage bookcase that I painted with Old White Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.
It now holds my collection of vintage tureens.
This wedding dress was made here in Quincy back in 1920. I purchased it and it's history from an old antique's dealer years ago. Since I sew, I appreciate the intricate work involved in this piece.
I also painted this fern stand that is housed in the corner. The tea cups and holder were a gift from a good friend.

The birdhouse table was purchased at a garage sale last year and works well in here. After all, MacKenzie Childs is all about whimsy!

The antique baby shoes and Christening Dresses are what is left of my sold off collection of this past obsession.
That was a long two days of sewing! And several days of playing with displaying the pieces. I still want to add a ruffle to the green Matelasse coverlet with more of the black and white mini check, but JoAnn Fabrics was still out of it. It is irratating that manufacturers don't make these coverlets longer on the sides to fit the size stated since they started making mattresses much thicker. The sheet manufacturers have done so, because of the deeper mattresses. Get on board the rest of you bedding people!

Good bye Green Toile Room (the stuff is for sale if you are interested). Hello, to my new MacKenzie Childs Inspired Guest Bedroom!
