Homemade Wool Sweater Purse

It's a great project

to make if you can

Dream

and

Sew!

I took a wool sweater from the thrift store and combined it with some ticking stripe and some gray fabric and made it into a really great new purse. This is not a tutorial, but just showing you the details of the bag.
I first washed and dryed the wool sweater to 'felt' it (make it shrink) for a tighter weave. I designed this in my head as I went along. I knew that I wanted to use the bamboo circle handles that I had on hand, so by simply making a shape from cutting under the sleeves then up towards the neckline in an arched fashion. This arch was then folded down over the bamboo handles and sewed to secure.
I embellished each side with a cream wool rose I fashioned from another wool sweater and a broach on one side and an 'M' pin on the other representing my last name.
For the liner inside, I used a matching soft gray fabric combined with black and white ticking fabric. I love to be organized and each side has four pockets for cell phone, keys, lipstick, tic tacs, pen and hand sanitizer.
I love how handy it turned out and wrapped in a really cute package!
