Guest Bathroom Tour

This bathroom has gone through three transformations in eight years. Can you tell I like to decorate just based on the first statement? It was your typical bland white walls and all white fixtures originally. Now it has a black and white Parisian theme. This bathroom has one long white vanity with one sink. I installed new light fixtures. Our handyman installed bead-board wainscoting, new faucets, and a new exhaust fan/light combo. My son installed a new toilet on a visit this past summer.  Yes, I ask him to do honey do's when he comes to see me. Now, would that be a bad Mom? Not, as long as I don't have him do too much and I even pay him for his services. A win win if you ask me!!

To jazz up the huge and frame-less mirror, I Velcro'd a white painted antique picture frame in the center over the sink. See first picture. That is a mirror reflecting the opposite wall.

We took out the glass shower doors since they were gold. (We took all the gold out of the house...new door knobs, drawer knobs, hinges, etc.)  In place of the doors, hubby installed a bowed shower rod and I picked up the shower curtain at TJ Maxx.

The floors are marble like other parts of the house, so that was fine and didn't need to be changed.

I put a black vinyl chandelier on the wall above the toilet and shelf.

On the opposite wall, I purchased a 1948 French magazine at a garage sale for $2 and picked out three ads and framed them as art.

I painted the ceiling to look like rolling storm clouds.

The upper walls are painted Practical Beige by Sherwin Williams. And I used vintage silverware handles as the hooks for the towels.  Much cheaper than purchasing towel hooks or rods.
BEFORE, See the gold knobs and shower doors? Yuck!
All inexpensive fixes and the room looks pretty, clean and functional. Terry

  11. What a great redo! I love your idea of using the vintage silverware for towel hooks! Genius! And I also think it's a terrific idea to frame the magazine pages, instant art! We have that same scary 1980's shower door, and I really would like to get rid of it!

  17. Oh we sound too much alike :) I just did my bath about 2 years ago and over the weekend was looking at paint and wainscoting. I think my walls maybe close to your color, so maybe I just need to add the wainscoting? Glad I found your blog and am now a follower.
