Diamonds In The Rough~Teapot to Lamp!

Here is another project finished with my Diamonds In The Rough! garage sale finds.

 Remember these garage sale finds from last Friday?

See the teapot off to the right in the above picture? It was only $1. The knob on the lid was broken off and missing.  I thought it was a pretty piece because of the shape and the roses. I love roses, don't you? So I was thinking at the time I saw this teapot, "hmmmm, it would make a pretty lamp base and be a fun project for me". Did I need another lamp? No, but I saw it in my head and couldn't resist!

Yesterday, I purchased a diamond drill bit at a local hardware store. It really is worth the money because it drills nice holes in ceramic and pottery with relative ease.

This is what the diamond drill bit looks like and it comes in various sizes, and I bought the one that would make a large enough hole for a lamp rod to pass through. I also had a black piece of round wood with tiny feet, (picked up at some garage sale knowing that it would be a good lift for some future project). That small 'lift' was just enough for the electrical cord to pass under so I didn't have to drill the side of the teapot for the cord. I just drilled the lid and the bottom of the teapot. Since I am always making something and taking apart other things, I have a bin of old lamp parts. I used some of these to complete this lamp and don't you think the pineapple piece is just right for the top of the teapot?  The hardest part was shopping around town for the perfect shade. I finally settled on Hobby Lobby for what I think is the perfect shade for the look I was going for. 

This was a really fun and amazingly easy project. I carried this teapot around town to find a shade and I had many offers to buy the teapot lamp from me. As usual, I will enjoy it for a while then probably sell it and move on to something else. That seems to be my MO.
