23 days to a New Garage!

The new brick was wet, so it appears darker than the house, but it is the same brick.
We decided that we needed a hobby garage (One bay for me to do my furniture projects in and one bay for hubby to have some kind of hobby car in.) and asked our builder friend (who is totally awesome) to build it for us. We also thought we would get a big fat 'NO' from him because he usually only builds large custom homes. But lucky for us, he had a short window of time and in 23 days we had our new two car garage!

Here is the process in pictures!
This is the before picture. See the space straight up the driveway, that is where the new garage was built.
Another before picture.
The Crab Apple trees were cleared away and a portion of the sidewalk removed.
The foundation was poured.
The framing was done. 2 x 6 walls, cellulose insulation.
The roof was done during a small snow storm!
The brick is almost done here.
Our builder attached the garage to the house with a little roof over the sidewalk. There is a people door on the side going from one garage to the other.
We are so happy and excited about this new space. We had to buy 4 new garage doors to get them all matching, so these windows are real vs. the ones that I had painted on. The brick appears darker because when I took the picture, the brick had just been washed when it was completed. The inside is all sheet-rocked and painted with baseboard and trim. There is a pull down ladder for the 500 sq. foot space in the attic for me to store my unfinished smaller furniture pieces and scrap wood pieces.

The masons did an awesome job with matching the circle medallion from the front of our existing garage. If you look at the old garage door area, you will notice the white wood above the doors. The mason is coming back tomorrow to brick that space to match what he did above the garage doors on the new one. UPDATE: The mason's came back and laid brick above our old garage doors. Now it looks finished. We appreciate our builder for the great job and attention to detail. Now I am ready for spring so I can landscape around it! And if I hadn't been here everyday, I wouldn't have believed that it could be finished like this in only 23 days!

  4. Terry, how nice. We added a separate garage for hubby's car hobby a few years ago. His is not finished inside. Maybe one day. I told him I may need a piece of it if I do furniture to sale. He will just have to learn to share. He has an upstairs room in his that I would love to use, but we can't haul furniture up and down stairs.
