Coolest Sconce EVER!

Do you want to hear about the

Coolest Sconce Ever?

I happened on an absolutely huge garage sale from years of accumulation and living. In fact, it was more like a flea market! I found three of these in varying degrees of disrepair...

This was the only one that was completely there with the face plate and all the crystals. At first, I did not intend to keep any of these sconces but part them out in use for other lighting that I make. That is until I came home and got the mail. My Oct. 2012 issue of Traditional Home magazine had come in the mail and what was on the front cover, I took as a sign that I was meant to keep at least one sconce. See the cover below? See the almost matching sconce on the middle right? I couldn't believe my eyes!!!
So, I walked around my home trying to figure out a place for this special piece. Then I looked at this...
I knew that this is where the sconce would go. I took the mirror off the wall and had two holes drilled into the center of the mirror. One hole for the screw that holds on the sconce and one for the plug-in wiring that I needed to make it work. I then decided to paint the cover plate and the candle covers in a black and white check inspired by MacKenzie-Childs beautiful pieces.
Here is the first try at a MacKenzie-Childs look...
I didn't like it with the shades that I had made when the lights were on, so I switched them out for black ones...
Much more dramatic I think. I just love walking by this sconce...it makes me smile.
Here is one more look without the shades...the plug-in wire is behind the mirror then behind the faux fireplace and on a timer. Perfect!
I deliriously adore this piece now!
