Trumeau Chalkboard ReVamp

The definition of
 a Trumeau Mirror

tru·meau

[troo-moh; French try-moh] plural tru·meaux [-mohz; French -moh]

a mirror having a painted or carved panel above or below the glass in the same frame.

I chose this title since my chalkboard is like that definition, only not a mirror. Along with the painting of my kitchen/dining room from RED to Gray, I also have to rethink or revamp my decor.

That is the case with this Trumeau Chalkboard. I decided to paint it in Annie Sloan's French Linen Chalk Paint since it's very close to the NEW color on my kitchen walls.
I also decided to have a bit of fun with it. I found a spacking-like product in my craft room and purchased a bird stencil on clearance at Hobby Lobby.
When using this product with a stencil and putty knife, it gives it dimension.
You can see it more in this picture where the birds are built up a bit with this 'stuff'.
After it dried, I then decided to pay homage to Twitter by painting #Tweet above the birds. Funny thing is that I have never tweeted and don't even have a Twitter account. I just don't find the need.
Anyway...It's cute and was a fun project.
Here it is with another sneak-peek at my kitchen.
More to come on my kitchen projects soon.

  1. I am a totally primary color person, but I have to say I like your kitchen better with the gray.

    It looks great!

  6. I love the chalk board. I had a trumeau mirror very similar and my husband nicked it with our sander so it couldn't be saved. I have been looking for a frame like this for a while. Would you be able to tell where I could find one?
