MacKenzie Childs Style Painted Pieces!

It's a known fact that I adore MacKenzie-Childs style, and Courtly Check is my favorite. Here I go again, painting some aluminum garage sale pieces inspired by M-C.

And a coffee pot...

  3. Oh good job! I went to a home walk a few years ago and the owner had the real cake platter and dome above her cupboard. It looked like yours...but I almost can guarantee, it cost a whole lot more!!

  4. Wow, what a great job! I have had an old silver cake server setting in my booth forever, I should try painting it since it won't sell as is...Thanks for the great idea!!

  6. Wow! These are gorgeous. And MKC are so expensive so I know you save a lot this way and still get the look...Christine

  9. If I don't have a stencil, then I don't have the skill for something like this. Not to mention that I barely have the skill, and mainly patience, with a stencil! LOL! I seen an aluminum cake cover at a flea market not long ago and thought of you!

  11. Wow, you did an amazing job with both of those pieces, but then you are a super talented painter and designer so I'm not surprised they look better that actual MacKenzie-Childs pieces!

Tell me, are they food safe or just for decoration? I'm wondering if you used the coffee pot for it's intended purposes, if the heat would peel the paint off? You could probably put a plate inside the cake carrier and it would be perfectly fine to use around food. Nicely done on both pieces!

  12. These are beautiful. I have a cake carrier that I would love to have painted like that! Do you have a tutorial? While I can't paint, I could get my Mom to paint it for me!

  16. I go crazy when I go to MC. My husband doesn't like to take me too often. I have never tried to paint anything in MC pattern. You are inspiring me. I'm sure they won't look like yours. They are so beautiful.
Have you ever been to MC in upstate NY? She has a house that is completely done in MC stuff. It is awesome. It has been years since I have been there, but on certain days you can have tea there.
    Have a great week,

  18. I've been wanting to do this to some of the silver pieces I bought inexpensively that had damage to the finish. Love seeing how absolutely adorable yours are with the little green accent border and flowers. Nicely done!

  21. I love Mackenzie Childs style too. Your painted pieces really capture the look. Do you have a tutorial on your site to give me some hints about painting on metal? I'll have to look around to see. Maybe you have inspired me.
