Sit A Spell

I love it when a unplanned plan comes together!

That is the case with these two chairs...

I found them out at a garage sale recently...already with the hard part done...stripped to the bone!

Here is what they looked like,
Though this is only one, there are two identical ones. Someone was thinking of me since they stripped them and were rip for the picking!

I decided to keep much of the beautiful oak but also paint parts with Annie Sloan's Old While Chalk Paint. Hubby helped me out by cutting wood to cover the holes in the seats that I upholstered with paint drop cloth.
I designed a pattern to paint on the seats in my Silhouette program and cut it out on freezer paper. Freezer paper will act as my template stencil by ironing the shinny side to fabric so it sticks enough to stencil. After that, just peel off and it's done!
All that was left, was to screw the upholstered seats to the under side of the chairs.
I love how simple, yet different and interesting they came out...in a whimsical way!
I now have them set up in my booth with this vignette of the blue table between, the foot stool beyond and the cute teapot floor lamp behind.
Here is a quick look at the before and after of one of the chairs.

A big plus...they are really comfy too!

    1. Yes, 1 inch foam, then a layer of batting, then the fabric.

  16. These turned out wonderful, what a huge transformation. I have two tall bar chairs that I've had on my list to redo. It's just getting around to doing them. I already have the paint and also purchased some drop cloth for this project. Just haven't decided what I want to put on the drop cloth yet.Love your "Sit a Spell" on yours. Seeing your project gets me to thinking that I really need to get those chairs done.
