Talk about
Cute
And
Fun!
This all started when I visited my friend. Upon arriving, I noticed that her acorns were huge compared to mine...
That got me to thinking how fun it would be to create some cute but various ways to Jazz-Up her acorns.
First, I washed them and put them on foil, then on a cookie sheet. I baked them at 170 degrees for about 2 hours to make sure all the bugs that could be in them were expired.
I took them outside and used spray varnish on the acorn tops to seal and make them look pretty.
The first three, I used just the tops and made acorn sized bottoms by twisting muslin and using the hot glue gun. All I had to do was glue on the acorn tops.
I decided to be a bit more creative and painted a bunch of them white. I then painted black squares with acrylic paint or black polka dots. When these were dry, I used spray varnish all over to seal.
Back to the tops again, I just wrapped twine until I got the size I wanted and tacked here and there with hot glue. Of course, all I needed then was to glue on the acorn tops.
I then thought I would use more acrylic paint and paint some acorns a solid yellow, blue and green. The brown ones in the bunch are original, just sprayed with varnish.
I could easily think of several more ideas of various ways to Jazz more up, but this is good for now.
Aren't they just the cutest?
I also added an acorn wreath to a chalkboard in my mud room!
