Pre-Reveal of My Other Guest Bedroom

I am so excited to have so many things happening at once. Between my wonderful new laptop, that I have to transfer all info/pictures from old computer to this one...

To the finalization of the Newly Redone Other Guest Bedroom...I will now call is my MacKenzie Childs Guest Bedroom since I have two guest bedrooms. I call the other one my Blue Guest Bedroom.

So lets get on with the Pre-Reveal...

First, the reason, like I have to have a reason to redecorate!, I have two grown children and now with spouses, I need to accommodate them with Queen beds when they come for a visit. This very room has gone though a couple of previous transformations, the first...

I used to call this room my Green Toile Guest Bedroom because of the toile fabric I used to make all the bedding and curtains.

Then, I was over that fabric when I fell in love with a different fabric...

I had also went from a twin bed to a full, in denial of my grown children, just because I wanted to keep the lovely headboard that hubby made out of a vintage wood door!

Well, I finally bit the bullet with my daughter co-sleeping with her baby and bought another queen size bed over Thanksgiving when they were all here.
Initially, this room for the holidays was without a frame. I ordered another Wesley Allen iron bed and it took until last week for it to come in. I love these beds because they are made of heavy duty iron and will not bend and can be passed down for generations.

I painted the walls and had my young and cute handy dandy handyman, Trent, come over and put up chair rail trim where the green border is high up on the walls. That, I will show you when I do the full reveal.

The other problem with this room is since it's small, the only good way to place the bed was in front of the window...not my favorite place to position beds. However, that also sealed the deal on an iron bed so that the light would still stream in.

Part of this reveal is to show you the cute light that I made. Hubby's grandma (who is 94) gave me a couple of different iron flower baskets that used to belong to her mother. Her mother lived to just shy of 102 and so she guesses that these iron baskets are at least 125  years old or older!

This came to mind when I was thinking of things to decorate the room with. I just rummaged though my electrical box of wiring, etc. and came across the light kit. I covered the cord by macrame half hitch knots with jute. I already had the swinging arm hook in my stash.

I was given some old tall skinny cabinet doors from a dear friend that didn't know what to do with them. I painted them the trim color and just leaned them against the wall on each side of the bed. This one, I attached the hook for the new hanging light...
On the other side of the bed, I took a lamp out of storage and used it on an end table with the old door behind. Don't worry, you will see it all soon! But here is a bit more close-ups to show you.

  4. Your room looks so beautiful! I love the new fabric. A bed in front of a window isn't my favorite place for a bed either, but sometimes that's what there is to work with! Your room looks like a cottage retreat! Would love for you to share at our Thursday Favorite Things Blog Hop link party to add to your link party list... it's on Wednesday nights! http://peoniesandorangeblossoms.blogspot.com
