A New Sun Tunnel & Granddaughter

My little granddaughter, Isla (pronounced Eye-La) recently turned one and luckily I have a cousin that has a creative eye and wonderful camera to capture some very precious pictures of her.

She is such a joy. Everything is new and 'ah' inspiring from her eyes.
Years ago, I took Lisa for professional pictures. After a time, she quit cooperating and hugged a bunny with her thumb in her mouth. The photographer asked if she could take the picture and though I didn't want it, she said I would treasure this. Well, she was right, I do treasure this picture of how Lisa spent her early years - thumb in her mouth. Now, Lisa's daughter does the same thing. We were having her hug her lion and she happened to stick her thumb in her mouth. I saw the picture of Lisa in my mind and asked my cousin to take the shot. This comparison is amazing though the age is 5 months off.

My son and his wife are expecting their first child in October and we just found out it will be a girl. I am one happy grandma.

On to our new Sun Tunnel. This is not a sponsored post but the result is so cool that I just had to share. As you can see, we are getting a new roof. We have a sharp 12/12 pitch roof so it is not an easy task.
While they were going to be up there on the roof anyway, we decided to have them install a Sun Tunnel on our roof to allow light into our windowless toilet/shower room.
He put it above the toilet since the light/exhaust fan is in the center of the ceiling. This is a shot with no lights on and all you see is daylight glowing down.
During the day, we don't even need to turn on the light anymore. It is truly fabulous.
This shot is directly up on the cover. It has a swirl pattern that is frosted so you don't see the reflective mirror-like tube, just glorious sunlight!

The sun tube looks fabulous--you can never have enough natural light in my book!

  3. I have a few sun tunnels in my home and I LOVE them. They are a great way to add natural light in an otherwise dark area. Enjoy!

  4. Just last Friday I had a SolaTube installed over my kitchen island. So far it is one of the best improvements/investments I have made in my home. This wonderful piece of technology replaces a 4-bulb florescent light fixture, and nighttime lighting has been provided by the electrical light within the tube itself, as well as four new can lights with LED bulbs. So how long does it take the average brain to stop saying, "Turn out the light" when leaving the room?

  8. Your blog is so sweet! The resemblance between the two pictures is amazing. I thought they were the same child at first! I love sun tunnels or tubes as we call them. My in-laws have one in their bathroom. So nice!
