Formal Dining converted into Study

This room have evolved over the eight years that we have lived in this home. Initially, this room was considered the formal dining room. However, we would not use a formal dining room except a few times a year sooooooo...we deiced to make it into a study. The computer that I sit at and compose this blog is right in that cabinet there. I laugh when I see how this room started out life for us.

The light colored striped wallpaper was already there from the previous owner/builder. I took down the wallpaper in the alcove and painted it green to add color. Eventually, we changed the look completely and here is the story in pictures from the ceiling down.

Down came the chandelier and moved to the breakfast area. I painted the ceiling and hubby added the small molding where the color changes (the large crown molding was already there). Up went a new medallion and ceiling fan. I took down the old wallpaper and added new Waverly stripe wallpaper (found on clearance for $3 for all three rolls used) to the upper walls above the existing chair-rail. Hubby then made box molding below the chair-rail and I painted it white. Then came the new walnut hardwood floors. I made the curtains and reupholstered the thrift shop chairs (a later blog to come) and new computer cabinet.
