I really do like the valances that I made recently for my dining room bay window. You can see more on that HERE. This large bay window is located next to the bar between the kitchen and dining room or breakfast room as some people call it. I decided that since I had enough leftover fabric, that I should make a matching valance for my kitchen window. This would allow me to have a different summer and winter look, since I could put the previous ones back up. (I will have to do some alterations with the previous bay window ones yet though).
Let's look back at the previous valances that I made years ago and still absolutely love...
Now lets look at the New Summer Valances...
Here is a picture of the kitchen window valance and you can view on down to the bay window valance...so they are visible at the same time.
I didn't stop there, I took a garage sale shade and switched it out on my silver teapot lamp. I added the band of fabric from the curtains and simply used a broach to join at the front...
And in this window is my latest collection that I have started, Pie Birds...
These are used to vent fruit pies, like apple pies, by placing a bird in the center when baking. I think it's a fun little collection that take up little space and who doesn't love birds?

Love the valance - and really like your wide window sill! Must be nice to have that space to display things. The pie birds are cute (I could never have them because my grandmother always told us bird inside the house were bad luck - I heard this my whole life and when I was in Pottery Bran the other day I wanted to buy a bird in a nest - all I could hear in my mind is my grandmother's voice!) So, I will enjoy yours thru your blog!!

I bought this fabric at Hobby Lobby years ago. They don't carry it any longer.
