A Bit More Of A MacKenzie Childs Christmas

Based on my last post about getting rid of some of my overloaded Christmas decor, it was a split on people that believe that you can't have too much Christmas decor and others like me that want to simplify the huge process of storing so much stuff for 11 months out of the year and then killing themselves with putting it all out in record time to enjoy for...a month!

This year, not only have I given away decor, but I also have done something that I normally don't do...I have incorporated my normal everyday collections into my decorating scheme.
That holds true for my kitchen and dining rooms. I lightly decorated my chandelier with a bit of greenery and simple tied ribbon, sans the shades. I had just painted the silver tea service that resembles MacKenzie Childs Courtly Check.
So continuing on with that theme. I made my own version of MacKenzie Childs Chard Trees.
I am even willing to let them go if someone was interested in making me an offer $$ on them.
My buffet started with this...
A perfect vintage table scarf...A garage sale find for a quarter! Yep, only 25¢!
Then to this buffet-scape! Out came my silver coffeepots, loving cup trophies and silver teapots.
A bit of greenery, A few silver and light gold balls and many small trees later...
See the framed deer?
I saw this done and thought it was cute. My version above is a vintage frame with convex glass allowing me to add a red pompom nose and make him into Rudolph. And using my Silhouette Portrait to cut out the deer shape in black cardstock.
While I was at it, I made a couple of more to sell in my booth.
However, you can see how I incorporated Rudolph into my buffet theme that adds whimsy...
Then a simple bow here...I accidentally broke the glass globe on this new lantern! Easy come, easy go!
Another tree there...
Lastly, getting my famous hand-painted jello mold tree out for display!

  8. I love how you used black and white to decorate for Christmas. You've taken traditional Christmas bows, and combined it with something non tradition. It looks great.

  14. Thanks for your posting about using things you already had. Sometimes we get so caught up in making our decor gorgeous and buying new things to achieve that state of "gorgeosity" that we forget about the nice things we already own. BTY, I, too, am a fan of MC and just go nuts for the back and white checks so often found in their designs. Lots of inspiration in your lovely photos. Thanks again!

  15. Beautiful as always, Terry! Love your black and white mixed in with Christmas décor. Like you, some years I simplify, others I go all out. Depends on how much time I have to decorate that year. Merry Christmas, Catherine

  19. Hi, love your decorations and talent. You are blessed! Perhaps instead of offering your MC Trees to the Best Offer, give them to someone who is not as fortunate. Merry Christmas to you and your family and thank you for sharing your talents.
