Winter Cold Brings Redecorating!

What else but redecorating during a long cold winter.

My putz houses look cool inside glass jars and I add white bottle brush trees as well.

But see this look (above)? I am so over the framed art that I made. And here is the real deal that caused it...
Cold winters cause me to re-look at my home and then that makes me want to redecorate. That is why my blog is called Forever Decorating!
A little over a year ago I transformed this room from Green Toile curtains and such to a full size bed and I made new curtains and bedding. I only went to a full size mattress because I wanted to keep the door headboard that hubby made.

Fast forward to Thanksgiving, when my son and his wife came for a long visit along with my daughter and her Fiance. So I really needed two queen beds for them. I quickly bought a queen mattress and just put it on a hollywood frame. I gave up trying to keep this headboard, that will turn into a summer project. I also ordered a Wesley Allen iron bed frame that will be here in a couple of weeks. So this caused me to look hard at this room and decide that it was time to repaint and redecorate...again.
This shuttered mirror is one that I really like and hubby made it out of an old window and trim.  I took everything out of this room and realized that this mirror was the solution to something different above my buffet...
I was able to leave my checked plates in place and the window mirror fits perfectly.
I love the molding on top that is big enough to decorate with old books and such.
I also love the detail of the split chair legs that were added by the shutters.
It bounces light from the bay windows directly across the room too.
And my winter putz houses still look great. That is until hubby came home and gave his opinion! Ugh. He doesn't like it at all. So for now, it is staying until I either fall in love with something that will fit here or I make something to go here.

As an afterthought, here is a look at my winter kitchen window...
Stay warm. I'm off to paint the guest bedroom...

  3. I like this so much more - the yellowed print wasn't the best match for the grey and white. This is perfect!! Will you move the print to the bedroom? Have you considered widening the headboard with shutters on each side? As always, your home looks lovely!

  5. Fruit basket upset---lol. We are going to flip two bedrooms this winter---and I have no idea what will result. Great ideas here, and if you love it, you can always find a use for it somewhere! Sandi

  6. You know, I read your blog, and I chuckled, because so often "one thing leads to another" in our house! I realize that is so true in most homes, it made me feel "better" to know I am not alone....
Your rooms look beautiful! Love what you have done....
