I have exciting news that I have wanted to share for over a year now!
I have a nine (9) page spread in the May 2016 Country Sampler magazine out now in stores!
Don't walk, RUN out to see what pages 48 - 56 have about my home.
Initially when they contacted me after seeing my blog, I was taken aback. I didn't think my home was suited for this magazine. Yes, I do have many country pieces, however over the years I have been refining my home to be more traditional with lots of vintage and whimsy.
They assured me that their magazine was trying to move from mostly Americana style to more of a country vibe.
The husband and wife photographers came just before Halloween 2014. They had asked me to take down any holiday decor and neutralize it. They ended up staying for two days shooting each room that was on the editors list...so no bathrooms or basement was shot.
This is the living room picture that they took. In the magazine, it is cropped much tighter showing just the right side of the room.
But you know me, I change things up a lot and I also had a ruthless garage sale and sold tons of my 'stuff' to allow for more 'stuff' to come into my life! So things are different now than when these pictures were taken.
This is my dining room now. See the shuttered window mirror was moved from one of the guest bedrooms to above the buffet.
The chandelier was sold and I purchased a new one.
Here is what the magazine has...
My master bedroom changed a bit too. Now I switched the bed skirt with one in a guest bedroom that you can see with THIS post...about no cost switcheroo. Here is what the magazine has...
Here is what it looks like now...
And the alcove in the largest guest bedrooms has changed with the selling of the feedsack lined two-wheeled cart and the bedside lamps...
However, the biggest change from the magazine shoot was the MacKenzie-Childs style guest bedroom from this in the magazine...
To this completely redone look...
You can see more on this redo by clicking HERE.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience and it's nice to have a document with professional pictures of my home at a certain time frame, since I change it so often. I had been asked to have my home photographed in 2005 for Country Decorating Ideas magazine (which came out in August 2007). This was such a painstakingly two day shoot as well but technology has changed dramatically and this time there was less equipment to clutter up all the rooms to where it was hard to move about my own home.
It took a long time each time this was done to get the pictures in print...a year and a half! I found that I needed to forget that the photo shoot even happened until the magazine actually is finally in print.
I'm glad that I said yes to having this done!
