From Boring to Crazy Cool Light Fixture

Okay, so I have been MIA again.
I have a good excuse...I have been working on a surprise for my daughter-in-law's baby shower, but I can't share that with you yet...
And helping my daughter start her Etsy account full of cool stuff she (with my help) has made...but I can't share that with you yet either!
And playing with my granddaughter, Isla Rose...
But the biggest thing, is helping my daughter get ready for her wedding Oct. 7! That's right, she had the baby first and now Isla's Mommy and Daddy are getting married! I am making the wedding dress so I will share that with you when it's done.

For now, I will share with you what I literally just did...hang a cool light fixture! It all started with this vintage milk glass shade that I found at a garage sale this summer for $1.50.

I figured that I would use it for one of my three bridge arm lamps but as of now, I liked the shades that are on those. Now what to do?

How about replacing a 'boob' light?
This one is in my laundry room. But as I took off the glass cover, I realized that I couldn't go from three light bulbs down to one in this room. I will have to remedy this later. I did clean out the bug in it while I was up there!

The only other 'boob' light that is in the house is this one in the basement stairwell. Yep, it had to go.
I was going to order all the vintage looking parts that I would need and make a fixture from scratch. That would have cost me over $35. So I looked on Amazon and found this one with a big clear glass shade for $32 with free shipping since I am on Amazon Prime! Cheaper, and I would have all the parts that I needed. I just needed to shorten the pendant wire...easy. (Funny how our counter tops look black in person, but when I shoot a picture of something on it, it appears more tan.)
When I was un-wiring the 'boob' light to take down, look what I found...A tan painted circle. Cool, I love a happy accident. I change things so much that I am guessing I had a smaller light up there, then painted the ceiling tan thinking that would look neat, only to discover it made the stairwell too dark. I first installed the 'boob' light thinking it would brighten things up. But then decided to paint the ceilings white again.
So the ring of tan looks on purpose and is working great. Now for the vintage shade.
I am loving how cool it looks with the Edison bulb and I have the luxury of switching out the vintage milk glass shade for the clear glass one that came with it if I wanted. I love change! The framed cat watercolor was painted by my daughter when she was very young.
