MacKenzie Childs Inspiration Table

As I have said many times,
I love MacKenzie Childs style
and the whimsical way that they paint their products. I get such inspiration from them.

On one of my garage sale hunts, I found this table and featured it in one of my Diamonds In The Rough! posts that you can see HERE.

Shown with all of its dirt and grime, I knew I had to paint this a certain way. Why?

Because my inspiration was this MacKenzie Childs table.

I don't know why, but I just have fallen in love with this table. I can't afford their price of $5200, but I can use it for inspiration.  At one time I painted a small antique coffee table...

But I had no place for it so I sold it and have missed it ever since. Now back to the little octagon table. I decided to recreate this MacKenzie Childs table on this piece. Here it is in its finished state.

And here it is in the house where I think I will use it as a chair side table.

I am so glad that I found it and for only $5, I knew I could make it a statement piece for a room.

  11. Terry, this is my very favorite MacKenzie-Childs-inspired piece you have painted so far. It looks fantastic in your home. I really like the birdcage chandelier behind it. Together they are absolutely stunning! I hope you do not sell this piece because it is so pretty in your home.

  12. great job...and here's a bit of irony about this table top: I just bought the Cloud Watching M-C placemats on Craig's list - I will post about them on Thursday...wish we lived near each other - we could have "paint parties"!!

  15. I have always liked MacKenzie Childs pieces, they are so whimsical and fun (but mega pricey). Also a big fan of checks, especially black and white. You do wonderful work and really capture the MK look.
Great little table and the turquoise lamp behind it is a fun piece too.

  26. The table I just did [linked on Miss Mustard Seed] I wanted to do in a Mackenzie Childs style, but I chickened out. How did you plan it out, or did you just tackle it sans formal plan? The table I did had so many portions of the legs I thought I could do in a different pattern, etc, that I was pretty sure without a plan I would muff it up... so instead I chickened out.
I have another table waiting in the wings... maybe that's the table to tackle?
