Week 11 ~ Diamonds In The Rough!

Diamonds In The Rough! is my weekly feature, where I show you the treasures that I find from garage sales, thrift store and antique stores.

Not shown is a very nice brown microfiber sofa for my daughter's apartment for $60 and from a nice new clean home. She really needed a couch.

Here are my treasures from this weeks garage sales:
A cool feed sack $4, and a yard of denim stripe fabric $1

Look at the neat stitching!
An old pie tin 50¢ and some old wooden spools, 25¢

Another old small baking tin, 25¢. Great for some fun decorating.
A pair of boy's skates, $1 to decorate for Christmas like the ones below...
I painted garage sale skates, $1, added ribbon and boa trim.
A $1 clock to replace a smaller one that I had here.
A couple of old books, $1 and a fun urn for 50¢ that I put the bird in.
Glass misc. pieces, $1.25
These glass pieces are to eventually make garden art...

See it coming together? No? Well, I will show you when I get enough pieces.
For $1 I got random words in vinyl along with a long decorative line (not pictured). What in the world would I do with random words? Look below!
First I took this old wooden piece and painted it white and distressed it.
Then using the vinyl words I cut out the letters of my last name and used the decorative line too.
This is hung over the doorway in the living room and now it has personality and meaning!
Here is another one  that I painted white at the same time.

 Enjoy!

  2. How creative of you to cut up the vinyl letters. I like to think I might have done that.

  4. Great finds. I wasn't as lucky looking this a.m. but my turn will come. Love the idea about the letters. Will remember that next time. Have a great day.

  5. What a creative use for using the random vinyl letters. You have great vision with all your diamonds in the rough. I often don't think fast enough when I spot something, then later regret not buying it.
I can see where you are going with the glass pieces. I also have a collection growing for totems.

  6. You did a great job on those skates and I'm sure the ones you just picked up will be just as nice! I've got ice skates on my mental list of things to look for when I go to the thrift store {because you never know when you might find those things on your mental list}.

  11. I love all of the goodies that you found and what you did or are going to do with them. I always need to have that figured out before I buy things, too, even if it's just 50 cents!
