Art from Sharpie Pens!

If you are like me, you learn so much on what others share via blogs and Pinterest that there just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day to study it all or even begin to make it.

I do find however, that there are some things that peak my interest so much, especially when it is this simple and fun.

See, the plate? A really simple and fun project that even the kids can get in on...Here's how,

First, you will need Sharpie pens of any color and a ceramic plate, bowl, cup...anything like that. Just make sure that the ceramic is ovenproof. Then either freehand a design, or use a stencil, or do as I did and use your Silhouette cutting machine to make a design on contact paper.
After placing the template or stencil (if you are not freehanding it) on your ceramic, just color it in with the Sharpie pen. Then pull off the template. By the way, my plates just were pennies from a garage sale.

Bake on a cookie sheet for 30 minute in a 350 degree oven. Let cool.
Now your design is permanent. I hand washed these plates with soap and it didn't come off.

Imagine letting your kids draw on the ceramic, putting their name and date and age for a great piece of personalized wall art. Or make one for a baby gift with birth name, date, weight, length. Or a wedding gift with the name and date the couple got married. The possibilities are endless...
