Are you ready for Part II of Then and Now?
In this post we will tour the upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms of my home, as well as the man cave and sewing room in the basement!
When you reach the top of the stairs this is the first thing you will see in the hall. The wall now has color. In fact the whole upstairs is what I called builder's white when we moved in. I changed all that...several times over these past 10 years.
Looking back, the master bedroom was not much of a master. We now have brown walls (they used to be green). We changed the carpet for hardwood flooring.
The cabinet in the dresser had a TV in it. It was made with doors from an old Hoosier Cabinet. We actually still have this but it has electronic components like the Wii and DVD player in it in the basement man cave. See if you can find it when you get to that picture!
Mostly garage sale furniture that I fixed up and the headboard made out of old shutters bought at auction. Here, you get a better look at the floor change.
Now we move on to the 2nd bedroom that I affectionately call, The Green Toile Bedroom. Unbelievably, the walls in this room have not changed the past 10 years after I painted them. I just really like the color and the stripes that is all paint. I lowered the stripes on the wall to make the ceilings feel higher. This is the only room in the house that doesn't have any built-ins or crown moldings like the rest of the house. The furniture has changed along with the decor though.
See the two shutters behind the bed in the 2002 picture? They became part of my shutter headboard in my master! They were there just waiting for my dream to become a reality.
Next is our largest guest bedroom. This has two built ins and has also been painted in different designs too many times over these past 10 years. Now it is soothing...the perfect guest bedroom.
The 4th and last bedroom is now our exercise room, so there is not much to show. It used to be our daughter's personal living room that is why you see a loveseat instead of a bed in the original picture. My daughter is also creative and painted this mural on the wall before she was grown and moved out and I just haven't painted over it. It reminds me of her and I still like it. She did take that dresser though.
I hope you enjoyed the tour and seeing how times have changed for the better! If you didn't see Then & Now Part I you can go HERE and see it.

You can see this room HERE.
The master bathroom is one of my favorite rooms in the house! It is actually two rooms. One that has the sink and tub and the other that has the toilet and shower. My young and cute, handy dandy handyman and I completely gutted this room. It had carpet. Yes carpet in the bathroom! Along with a huge garden tub (I am not a tub girl) and only one sink and Hubby doesn't share well. All that combined led to disaster trying to get dressed in the mornings. Now it has a very comfortable and pretty-to-look-at slipper tub. Two sinks so we each have our own. Marble floors and beadboard walls.
You can tour the whole bathroom HeRE
What you can't see in this picture below, is the shower. We just had it gutted and a new larger one with subway tile put in. I will be showing that real soon...just waiting on the glass shower doors to come in.Now we move on to the 2nd bedroom that I affectionately call, The Green Toile Bedroom.
You can see this room HERE. Even though things have changed a bit from that post.
Moving on to the guest bathroom. This room has gone though several changes. My daughter used this bath as her own and at first I painted a mural of moon and stars on the wall. Then she got into yellow ducks so I painted bubbles on the walls and yellow ducks were found in the accents. Then on to more of a Paris theme. I toned that down. We took all the gold out of the house such as the shower doors, door knobs, hinges, etc. Now it has beadboard walls and has a more vintage vibe.Next is our largest guest bedroom. This has two built ins and has also been painted in different designs too many times over these past 10 years. Now it is soothing...the perfect guest bedroom.
You can see the whole room HERE.
The 4th and last bedroom is now our exercise room, so there is not much to show. My daughter is also creative and painted this mural on the wall before she was grown and moved out and I just haven't painted over it. It reminds me of her and I still like it. She did take that dresser though.
You can see more of this room HERE.
On to the basement. The builder painted the basement walls a horrible shade of teal. That had to go right away. Then out went the built in entertainment center and now a plasma hangs above the electric fireplace.
You can see more of this awesome room HERE.
In the basement, there is a room under the stairs that the builder used as an office. It has a whole wall of shelving and desk space...perfect for my sewing and small hobby projects.
You can see the room HERE.
There are two more rooms in this basement. One is an unfinished storage room that has our heaters etc. and then this wonderful room that is now a great organized storage room for holiday decor and extra clothes.I hope you enjoyed the tour and seeing how times have changed for the better! If you didn't see Then & Now Part I you can go HERE and see it.

I love the progression of decorating over the years and to see how sophisticated your style has become. I especially love the Green Toile room!
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome that you have all those before photos that allow you to do side by side comparisons! What a difference...unfortunately I don't live in the same house as I did in 2002. I'm not sure I'd want to share it anyway. At least yours was still cute and very welcoming before, too:)
DeleteWe are in the midst of major renovations now....actually we have been renovating since we arrived nearly 14 years ago! LOL I like how you show the before and after photos....You really have a beautiful home and a good eye for decorating! Well done! Christine

Just beautiful! - before and after!! It was fun to see all your changes and updates!
ReplyDeletePlease come and decorate my house!!! I love everything about your house. I even like the before pictures. Beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteWhat an astonishing makeover! It’s like an over-all transformation and I love it! I truly adore what you have done especially at the basement. You’ve got excellent organizational skills and an excellent interior decorator too. Keep up the good work! I know more will be inspired from your work. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWow! There really are huge differences in the photos you have presented. Time really is so influential in everything even in the minute things or details. Your designs are very cute and elegant. I hope I can use them for my house as well in the near future. Thank you so much for these great ideas.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed scrolling through your photos of then and now! Interesting how our tastes change!! Guess we are works in progress ourselves! Found you on Sew Darn Crafty!
