Autumn Leaf Banner

I am beginning to decorate for Fall (though today is 98 degrees outside) and decided that on the agenda would be to make a new banner for my vintage window.

I chose this leaf design (Design ID #13190) in the Silhouette library. It came with many types of leaves but I stuck with the maple leaf and deleted the rest from my work sheet.

The Silhouette Digital Cutting Machine makes crafting so much easier and faster. I simply had the machine cut out the top layer of the leaf with a letter and the bottom layer solid and a bit larger...
And this is the negative that is left behind...
Maybe I can come up with another idea for it's use.
After cutting them out, I used scrap-booking ink to enhance the edges then hot glued them together and bent over the long stem, gluing it down to form a pocket to run a piece of jute though.
Quick and easy! On a side note, you will see that my hubby found another very old typewriter to add to his growing collection...
It's a very petite one! Are you decorating for Fall yet?

  2. Not decorating for Fall yet! Maybe when the weather turns more autumnal I'll feel more in the mood. Hot and humid and very tropical dewpoints here in SE Wisconsin too. Yechy! The entire Great Lakes region and the breadbasket region to our west has got socked with this weather. Still hot and sticky tomorrow, in the 80's on Thursday and the low 60's are forecast for Friday (but only Friday), hoorah! Thank goodness for central air conditioning. That being said, your cut-out leaves are beautiful! When I saw the "negatives" and then I saw your window frame, I thought if you had another one they might work perfectly to create a you sort of negative checkerboard effect, one piece per glass pane, with the wall color showing through the cut out leaf parts. Or color them over with other cloth or colored paper? Just thinking out loud now. I love you creative people. I don't have the knack but you can get what creative juices I have flowing. Look forward to seeing what else you do. I'll probably get aound to decorating for fall around December 15.
