Edgar's Bed!

This story is pure Kismet.

Here's my story as it happened!

In our new hobby garage, we have an attic storage space above with a drop down ladder.

I was up there selecting furniture to bring down to paint.

As I was stacking things up for Hubby to help carry down, I stacked an old vintage leather suitcase on top of this...

I noticed that the suitcase fit the top of this stool base perfectly. Then as Oprah would say, "I  had a lightbulb moment".

Instead of doing the expected and sell the suitcase in my booth and make the wood base back into a functional and cute stool, I decided to make Edgar a bed.
Who is Edgar? He is my grandcat. He lives with my daughter and his name is Edgar Allan Poe!

Basically I just painted the stool with Robin's Egg Blue Chalk Paint by Annie Sloan. Then I screwed the suitcase onto the base.

Then I added a hinge that could lock and unlock so when in use by Edgar, the lid won't close on him.
I purchased a bed pillow and made a coordinating cover from flannel. It's so soft. The added touch is a banner with his name for the lid!
It's just too Cute!

  4. That's such a cute idea! Does Edgar sleep on it? I made a quilted pillow for my daughter's cat, complete with zipper, and it's the only thing in the house that Empress doesn't sleep on.
