My son Charlie has figured out that I can do a lot of things and that I love doing for him.
Over Thanksgiving and the weekend, we were together...he lives in Kansas and I live in Illinois. He brought me 5 brightly painted ceiling fan blades from his old farmhouse.
The previous owners painted it this awful color probably for a childs room. Since this farmhouse has 5 bedrooms, he has converted one into his gun room. He asked me to paint the blades to look more like wood and add the Ruger logo along with the word Ruger.
Since I didn't have a lot of time and I knew that the Ruger info would cover a lot of the blades, I just base painted with light brown acrylic paint and then streaked with darker brown and light brown mixed on the paint brush. Not bad for quick and easy.
I decided that I didn't want to hand paint all these blades so I just used vinyl and after attaching the Ruger information, I coated with two coats of Polycrylic to seal the vinyl to the blades.
I think he was happy with the outcome. Definitely much better than the original color!
And I always get a picture of my two kids together since it's usually a year between them seeing each other! Charlie is 33 and Lisa is 24 (4 months pregnant). Wishing your Thanksgiving Holiday was so good too and hope that you were blessed to see family.
Now on to cleanup and decorating for Christmas...
