My House & Gardens ~ Part II

If you have seen my last post on My House & Gardens ~ Part I (Or you can just click on highlighted words to go back and see it), I showed you the front of the house and yard.

Let me refresh you on what you will be seeing. This is from Google Earth of my home. The white outlines are the rock borders of the flowerbeds that you will see. Focus on the left of the this picture because that is my backyard...the feature of this post. There is a patio at the back of the house bordered with a rock wall. To the South behind the new garage is a dry creekbed so we have a bridge over it as you walk though the breezeway between the garages.
Remember this breezeway created when we added our new garage? Now let's step through and take a look around...
We just went through the breezeway and turned around to see where we came from. We have a shed tucked back into a hidden corner of the house. This is used for my riding mower, our snowblower and other yard and garden items. Then the dry creek bed that runs behind the new garage out to the South of our lot. It does flow with water during a heavy rain.

This is the back of the house where we have added a pergola over the patio. To the right, through the Thunder Cloud Plum Tree, you can see the red of the shed. The patio sits lower than the yard that is held with a rock wall.

Let's just take a look around...Beware, tons of pictures!
We store our chair cushions in a deck box to protect them and make them last longer when the patio is not in use.
At the top of this picture, you can see the rock wall that surrounds the patio.
Our little waterfall we built last year.

The swing, out in the distance and at the top of this picture, is the back centerpoint of our yard. I have built two large burms on each side of this swing for flowers. They arch so that we can access the back of the burms for maintenance and on one side hidden, we have our burn pile and on the other side we have a large compost pile. You will see more of those burms in a bit.
Looking North from the patio through the arbor, is my cupola made from old windows and beyond is the vegetable garden.

My little vegetable garden planted left to right, Green Beans, Peppers, Spinach, Tomatoes, Green Beans, Basil, Cucumber, Zucchini.

A night shot of the little cat house.
And our resident outside guard cat! She just showed up one day with a little of four kittens and $1500 later, never left. We had her fixed and various other vet bills, she is holding up well after 12 years. Very uncommon for an outside cat, but she winters in the mudroom.

At the back, behind the new garage is my rain barrel and the end of the dry creek bed.
Looking South along the edge of the burms in back.
Looking North from the centerpoint.
Looking North from the central back swing...you can see the column with the duck weathervane on top.

Late evening shot.

For hubby's recent birthday, who has a love for feeding birds, I tidied up the base of his feeder with a large circle of found pavers.

Let's just sit here and rest awhile.
