More Winter Decor

I absolutely HATE computer problems. My laptop is good (so they tell me) but it is five years old and it has been in the 'shop' for a tune-up but it is just so slow...so I am researching laptops to buy a new one...frustrating!

But on to talking about this post! I have been decorating a Chiropractor's office for well over 10 years. It's an easy job and I go in about every 6 weeks and change the decor.

I took down the Christmas decor and put up new winter decor that I made. I am allowed a budget to work with. I will focus on this file cabinet in this post, so let's break it down.
First I added some poly fiber to act as snow. I topped that with an old window (minus the glass) that has 'feet' to allow it to stand on it's own.  I then went out into my burn pile and got a large tree limb and cut it up. This firewood was tied with jute ribbon. I leaned an old pair of skates with greenery against the edge of the window. These skates were found at a garage sale and I changed out the laces for black contrasting ribbon and added glittered snowflakes all over the skates.
Then I went to Hobby Lobby and purchased a burlap canvas. I painted the words Winter Welcome.
I also got a twig looking snowflake ornament that is really made out of resin. I attached the 'icy' greenery with pine cone to the top of the canvas with a tiny nail. I hung the snowflake ornament on the nail head I left sticking up then made a bow from the jute ribbon and attached it.

The word Winter needed something, either shadowing or glitter, so I chose glitter that I added to the top of the words...

While I was adding the glue, I made the shape of a snowflake with the glue at the bottom corner of the canvas and then glittered it too.
Next to that, I simply added a half gallon canning jar with Epsom salt and white painted twigs.
While I was at Hobby Lobby, I saw a plain metal snowflake. I purchased it and added some 'icy' greenery and a jute ribbon bow.
There is a sled and more small winter decor throughout the office that I didn't take pictures of, but you can see this summer project, I took a very large framed piece of glass and added vinyl words that correspond with what this office does. I love getting adjusted!

  3. Thank you, Terry, you always come up with the look I love! You've given me the inspiration for my mantle. Now it is out to the garage to find the old skates...

  6. Me too! Almost every month when my Social Security payment hits the bank I go to my chiropractor and get a tune up. It's my "spa" treatment...and I love your vignette! How did you wrangle this "job." It doesn't look like work, it just looks like fun and on someone else's money!
