Bye, Bye Valance!

I made a pretty valance, for the bay window in my dining room, a year or so ago.
I decided to take the Christmas holiday as my opportunity to put up what I really wanted, a white wooden rod with rings.

Why mess with a good thing you ask? Well, I have made the decision to use the rings during the month of December to hang Christmas decor. This forces my hand to...
Make a NEW Valance AFTER Christmas! I will be making new valances that work with this rod and rings. I must get my creative hat on now. I will show you the new valances when I get them made.
Cool shadow on the wall of the snowflakes.

  3. Very cute idea! Love it.

The floral fabric you used on your valance is the same that I once had on a chair and ottoman. I still like the fabric very much.

  7. Nice idea for the Holidays, I really love the little ribbons you used at the top too! But please keep those valances -- they are gorgeous! Just put them away somewhere and, trust me, you will find them one day and say: "These are gorgeous, I'm ready to put them up again!"
    Best,

  13. Love your snowflakes...I did something similar in my living room of my last home, except I used gold...they look so festive in your kitchen. As for the M-C ribbon, it is actually from their store and it is not wired. A roll cost $60.00 and you can get it online. The only problem I have is that the checks are very creamy-colored and my M-C knockoff ornaments are very white (and it looks "dirty" beside it), so I made the stockings with it. You could buy B&W checked fabric and "dull" the white with cream paint (and drag some colors thru it) as an alternative - I have done this before and it works well - good luck, anxious to see your decorations!!

  18. Different is not necessarily better. Your valance was Christmasy in and of itself. The snowflakes look skimpy.

I know "blog speak" is supposed to be cutesty and gushy but there is a place for truth!!!

You still inspire me but not here. Keep up the awesome creativity.

  22. Oooh, love the look! I plan on doing something similar to this in a little nook area in my kitchen with white ones. We finally put a light in it earlier this year when the hubby was laid off.
