If you haven't noticed...I have been gone from my blog, on vacation to Kansas and Oklahoma to see my son, and two of my sisters, one has a winery! But I am back now and thought that you might enjoy this...
I enjoy my yard so much. I love to be out in it when the days are warm and sunny. I like to see how many of the flowers are blooming, how green the weed-free grass is and I even love to mow, albeit it's easy since I have a riding mower!
I have yet another brick story! When the new garage was built and bricked, there was some left-over brick. I didn't want to just stack it at the back of the yard, but use it instead.
I have a quaint area near some pine trees that is shady and cool in the summer with a sweet little table and chairs. So, I decided to get creative and plant a circle pad of brick for this table and chairs to rest.
The circle came into my head because a third pine tree used to be there (that died) and the small stump was still sticking out of the ground. I used that stump as my starting point and just laid the brick in the circle on a bed of sand.
What to fill the triangle voids with? That was the question. I could have used cement, but that would make this too permanent, so instead, I thought of using the small pebbles that I used in my dry creek bed. It filled the voids well, was not permanent and I could safely set the table an chairs on either the brick or rock.
Now it is more interesting to view, and if I ever need to use any new brick for whatever reason, I can just pluck it out! Sweet!!!

I love this. Please come to Tennessee and make a little brick circle for me. I do have a stack of old brick, so maybe this will be my summer project. Thanks for the idea.

what a great space, i love this. it's the perfect little retreat, hopefully with a glass of your sister's wine?
ReplyDeletethat area is fabulous! thank you so much for sharing over her at Fishtail Cottage's Garden Party today...hoping you had a great trip to see your family...but i bet it's kinda nice to be back home. xoox, tracie
ReplyDeleteStopping over from Fishtail Cottage. Love your idea, and created a great space. I could so see myself sitting there! I live seeing round figures instead of the typical square! So i bet you sit out here often.
ReplyDeleteVery nice, Terry. Love brick and the circle makes a great effect out in the yard. Great idea. Hope you'll stop and visit me at Quirky Vistas!

This is so nice, I wish I had time to work in my yard.
ReplyDeleteLove the circle formation! reminds me that I NEED to get outside!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet spot to enjoy the garden!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute place to sit and relax.Love your choice of furniture.
ReplyDeleteHow charming. Now if there was just a cup of tea and a paper one could spend the entire morning.
ReplyDeleteOk, Terry, when I come over next week I want to sit at your little table and chat. I will even bring my own coffee. Gail
ReplyDeletevery pretty! We have lots of bricks. What have you used around the bricks as an edging?
ReplyDeleteWhat did you use to go around the edge of the laid brick? It looks like a plastic border of sorts.
ReplyDeleteYes it is a plastic edging you can buy at the hardware store for laying brick to keep the outer edge in place.
