Why do I fall in love so easy? I'm talking about with decorating? Is it my calling? Or is it because it's just plain fun...and I like CHANGE!
My sister's and I think it's because we were raised in the military and we moved around A LOT! I went to 14 different schools before I was in the 9th grade!
Back to my dining room. I am in love with the new Gray color. It's a custom mix by Sherwin Williams. They call it Mushroom. This Gray looks different at different times of the day and eve. I got this from another blogger that said it was the perfect gray. I agree with her but I don't remember who it was.
After painting, I realized that I would have to change the rug from this red rooster rug...
To this Oriental rug that I found on Overstocks.com
I also changed out the chain sock and the shades on my chandelier from this...
To this...
I will show you how I did these monogram shades in another post very soon.
So made these valances.
And the picture/art above used to look like this...

Before the buffet, the furniture on this side of the room looked like this...
That hutch looked like this when I found it and I painted it with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.
Things just keep changing!

Hi Terry,
ReplyDeleteI just love your dining room. The black check on the pretty script fabric looks so pretty with the checkered plates. I think you have incorporated so many pretty details. My sister put that same fabric in her diningroom. Love all that you've done.
hugs
Sissie
It looks great, Terry! A very different look from the red! Love the chandy shades and your new valance. I love that fabric, too, and am using up the last of it.
ReplyDeleteTerry, what a beautiful dining room. I love the mushroom gray you painted the walls and your buffet looks fantastic against the light walls. Hope you're enjoying many dinner parties there! Thanks so much for sharing on Silver Pennies Sundays!
ReplyDeleteWow...Looks lovely...and I adore your new rug!! Curtains look fabulous and isn't great that you could still use many of the same accent pieces you already had? As for my mirror - I think it is sold already!!
ReplyDeleteTerry,
ReplyDeleteIt looks spectacular! Can't wait to see it in person. After painting 2 gray rooms in Amy's house and seeing yours, I am going to have to figure out what I can paint gray. Love it. Gail
I am also loving that Mushroom color!! Such a gorgeous room:) Just dropping in from Let's Get Social Sunday to say thanks for joining in!!
ReplyDeleteHave an awesome week!!

I love the change, Terry! You are right, it does look very relaxing. I love gray - except on my hair!
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful Sunday!

Love love love the changes Terry!! The new color is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove the new look and color! You did a great job. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the new look. The old was nice but the new is awesome.
ReplyDeleteWow it's so pretty. The gray looks wonderful with your black and white accents. The artwork above your buffet, the column, the chain sock...it all looks great with mushroom.
ReplyDeleteTo me, it seems you did this all very quickly. I have to stew on things so long it makes me crazy and I feel that nothing is getting done! Give me some advice - how do you decide on and find the things for your walls? That's the hardest part to me. I don't like mass produced looking things and so otherwise I'm always just stuck.
So Beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteWow, looks stunning! Love the grey paint colour.
ReplyDeleteOh, this is gorgeous! I love it! You did a fabulous job!
ReplyDeleteIt's all wonderful! I just LOVE it. The curtains,, the lamp shades the new table color...gorgeous. I have always loved gray for a dining area!

New follower from Let's Get Social Sunday link-up. I'm not doing any decorating until we find forever homes for the last 3 pups. (We're keeping 3, so that means we have 6 right now, plus the mama, plus our cat.) But now I know where to come for inspiration!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and serene... I love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog today, I'm your newest follower and would love for you to do the same. I love what you did with your dining room. The red was beautiful but now it looks so fresh and open and bright...you HAVE got me thinking! That sideboard of your's is to.die.for, so gorgeous, and the drapes...WOW!. The crown molding you have looks like the kind we're putting in our living room, I love that. The whole room looks fab. Have a great evening.
ReplyDeleteAudrey

ReplyDeleteI think you are very talented and I love your home. Question? Are you selling the red rooster rug? I have been in neutral mode for 13 years now and want some color:) thanks for sharing your talents. Kathy D
ReplyDeletekathy@relatemag.com
I like it so much, I really love the color, and like the more neutral lighter color of grey. I think it helps the space look much lighter and brighter. Very pretty, love the new rug, shades.
ReplyDeleteComing over from My Turn for us Love the grey! new follower
ReplyDeleteSInce you tipped me you were going to post this, I had to stop by. It all looks positively wonderful! You chose a great color and I love that new rug - very high end. :) Every time I see columns at antique stores, I think of you, and wish I had a place to add some in my home.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Meredith
Oh my - I love your dining room! The room design itself is just so charming. It was very cute in the red, but now the gray is so warm and inviting. Good choice! I must include this in my "future possibilities" scrapbook :)

Terry, I happened upon this post today. I fell in love with the changes you have made to your home. I sure would like to have what you recycled. I love that rooster rug and toil valance in red. Makes me want to get up and do something. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI am currently remodeling & will have a bay windrow with French doors opening to the outside. Any tips on decorating or how you've liked yours?
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Terry. I really love the buffet in white. Big difference. Thanks for sharing at Every Room In The House. ~ Nancy
ReplyDeleteSo, so pretty! I would be reluctant to cover over the gorgeous red but the gray is just so pretty! I wear a lot of gray but never thought of it for my walls! Love the black accents too. Everything looks wonderful. You are so creative with what you did to that free painting!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I particularly love your column. Mine is plain white. I cant stand it. How did you get it to look vintage?
