In the winter, Hubby and I get a bit of cabin fever and we go antiquing and junkin'.
We can usually just do a day trip and hit places that are not in our town that we don't visit all that often.
As luck would have it, and on the very first stop, we got most of our purchases.
Hubby found an aluminum ladle and I knew I could do something fun with it.
Next I found (all bundled together) old cookie cutters that spelled out the word N-E-S-T!
Well don't you know my creative mind got to working overtime and I knew what I was going to do with these as soon as I got home!
First, I paint black and white checks on the outside edge of the cookie cutters, just because I love the look.
Then I made a nest out of glue and old folded book page slivers for the ladle.
I rummaged though my collection of frames and found a long skinny one. I painted it Old Ochre with Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint. I then covered the backing with burlap.
Then all I had to do was glue it all together. I did wire the handle of the ladle to the backer board.
Isn't it just adorable?

ReplyDeleteThis is so adorable. It is so clever. I still love your Mackenzie Child's painting jobs. She is going to be in Miami in May but I will be out of town - so sad! I still haven't done any painting, but thinking about it.
