Front Yard Gardens 2013!

I thought you might like to take a stroll through my yard with me. This has been a good weather year for plants and mine are flourishing. You will understand why we love being at home, puttering in the gardens and happy as can be!

Grab a drink and sit back and enjoy...it's a lot of pictures! Let's start in the front yard...
NOTE: An interesting fact about our home. The rock wall in front and there is one in back are the original foundation stones from the farmhouse that could not be saved that was across the street when this was a farm. Now a thirteen house subdivision. Our home was the first built in this new subdivision 16 years ago (we have owned it 10+). The rock corners on our home are real rock from the rock quarry and a talented guy was able to form the brick around the  stone. Most homes now have what is called cultured stone, that is cement made to look like stone.

We are the third house in and no one can build in front or back, so it is very private! Lucky us...

 From this garage sale wheelbarrow...
 to this...
We used compost soil to fill this old wheelbarrow. A hidden seed of a gourd or pumpkin must have been hiding in there. Can't wait to see what develops so I know what this green leaf vine is...and see Bella in the window looking out? She has such a hard life!

A used Robins nest that I was going to decorate with...until my hands became full of mites while carrying it. It is staying outside!

This wagon is 75 years old. My mother received it from my grandparents when she was 1 year old.
Next time...Back Gardens, oh so much more!

  2. Wow, what beautiful landscaping!! And your plantings look so happy and well nourished!! Love the wagon and wheelbarrow arrangements, especially all the creeping jenny draping out of them. And the little basket with the pretty dish against the shutters is so pretty. Looks like you really have a green thumb for sure. Thank you for sharing your beautiful front yard. Can't wait to see the back! Blessings, Linda

  5. It is all lovely. I love the story about your stone.

We had a little red wagon planted with flowers in our front yard, but it eventually rusted all the way through. I miss that wagon.

  6. Oh my goodness - I am inspired! We've been in our home only about 18 months now and there were no gardens when we moved in. Shocking, I know! Little by little I'm working to add spaces and plants. I came over from Ivy and Elephants link party; my button is right after yours.

  13. What a beautiful home, landscaping and garden. You must be so proud of what you have created. As a big gardener, I KNOW just how much work that took to create and maintain! Especially appreciate how you incorporated the original stones into the process. LOVE LOVE LOVE stones! I very much enjoyed your garden tour, thank you for shairing!!

I have stones in my garden as well-more rounded fieldstones. I collected every one of them myself from farmers field, beach and roadside. I use them to edge my beds and as accents as I have a very loose, informal, overgrown garden style. I do this for privacy and noise blocking from the road we live on.

If you have a minute you might like to visit my garden at The Small House Under a Big Sky. Plug in "farm and garden" for all my garden related posts. I just posted a "Mid Summer Garden" view a week or so ago.
