I'm doing what I call my Diamonds In The Rough! features? It's where I show you my weekly buys from garage sales, tag sales, thrift stores, etc. Then I promise to show you what I make with them or what I use them for.
I've got to tell you, today, Friday, I only went to four garage sales. I got a lot of treasures and some really great deals...
Here you see:
A vintage picnic basket~To sell in my antique mall booth
Plastic file keeper~Great tax paper storage
Aluminum cake carrier and pitcher~To paint like MacKenzie-Childs style and sell like this...
Lots of easels~I'm always needing these in my mall booth
Small bottle brushes~I have wished that I had these several times to clean small things
Old tea strainer~I collect these and hang them on my kitchen Christmas tree
Two black round pieces of wood on little feet~Great used for lifts and levels or craft projects
Plastic measuring cups~Great for dipping out pet food and just leave in the pet food box for the next feeding
Plastic scoops~Great for using with flour, sugar, etc.
An old armless Kewpie doll and old doll head~To sell in antique mall booth
And the cream of the crop...
A vintage Hoosier Coffee Glass Canister~Paid 10¢, value $39*
Old Blue Ball Jar~Paid 50¢, value $5-$8*
Cute glass jar~Paid 10¢ and looks great with old buttons in them, etc.
GORGEOUS square cake pedistal~Paid $7.50, value $52*
*value based on what ones just like these sold for on eBay
Now let's see what I find Saturday!

Wow...I don't find things like that...hardly find a good garage sale anymore. Those jars are fantastic...and the picnic basket is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff, Terry! I just drove by a yard sale on my way home from the day job. I may swing by tomorrow to see if they are going all weekend. It looked like they had a lot of stuff {including some small furniture pieces}. Can't wait to see your painted pieces!
ReplyDeleteI need to stop cleaning and hit some garage sales. You really found some good stuff.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you paint on some of your things.
Those are GREAT treasures! Love the cake pedestal, blue jar, coffee canister, and glass jar. gotta love those 10 cent finds!!
ReplyDeleteYou found some great things and at great prices. I wish yard sales around here were that good. I just love the vintage hoosier jar. I just love anything made with old glass.
ReplyDeleteMom, I'll take the ball jar off your hands unless you have big plans for it. I'll put granddad's marbles in it that we dug out of fire. ( Nanny has already lost hers.)
ReplyDeleteGreat finds! Yard sale season is about to ramp up near me...can't wait :)
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw the 1st photo, and saw the cake tin, I KNEW just what you would do with it!! I am on the hunt for the same thing after seeing the one you already painted! Looking forward to seeing this one painted, too!
ReplyDeleteI do love yard sales, and it looks like you had some great finds! Thanks for sharing the excitement with us at Be Different. I "followed" your blog!
ReplyDeleteSuch great finds! I especially like the blue ball jar and the sweet frozen charlotte.
