Oh how fun this was and how pretty it come out!
Remember this chair from Week 8 of Diamonds In The Rough! ?
When I saw this chair at a garage sale, I knew that I could do something fun with it, however the clincher was the price...only $1, so I brought this baby home.
I painted it a soft yellow, added chicken wire to support the coconut fiber basket liner that I purchased at a garden center. I then shopped my own yard for succulents that would work for my design.
In the same Diamonds In The Rough! post (HERE), I also found a half birdcage. I decided to embellish the succulent chair by wiring it to the back and adding a cute bird.

It's so funny that I just got the same chair off the curbside (http://lovelybeasts.blogspot.com/2011/05/curbside-saves-french-coffee-table-and.html)! Well, it's missing a rod and the top "ladder" rung is a little wonky, but it's the same one! I'm hoping to figure out a way to give it a seat again...but we'll see!

Forgot to say that I love what you did with yours. Beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Terry. I only planted succulents in my pots this year with the exception of one with geraniums. I am enjoying them so much!
ReplyDeleteLove this idea! I have an old ice cream parlor type chair I got several years ago at Goodwill for about $2.50. Knew I wanted to use it out in the yard, but wasn't sure just how. Now I know! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a smart idea! I see bottomless chairs at just about every garage sale I go to. Now I know what to do with them!
ReplyDeleteJeanine

Oh my gosh, I could soooo hug you right now! I swear I have 4 of these EXACT chairs sitting in my garage right now! I got them for free on freecycle about 2 years ago and planned to fix them up and use them for our old kitchen table. Well, we moved a year ago and got a bigger table, so they have been "lingering" around my house ever since. I have promised hubby a million times I'd get rid of them, but I always knew there was something I could do with them instead. Now I know what to do, and I have the perfect bare spot in my landscaping for them! Thanks so much for the awesome idea, I'm adding it to my "to do list" right now!
ReplyDeleteTerry, This is so cute! Love the succulents.
