Diamonds In The Rough! is my weekly feature, where I show you the treasures that I find from garage sales, thrift store and antique stores. I then show you how I decorate with them or what I do with them.
Garage sales have been very sparse in treasures for me, so Hubby and I went thrift and antique store shopping in another town.
I won't bore you with the NEW over-the-door ironing board that I found at a thrift store still in its shrink wrap. I so needed one in my sewing room, so I was very pleased to find it for only $5.
But, I will show you my treasures for this week...
Okay, lets talk about this window. This was marked $10 at an antique store. It is in great shape and I can do some fun sewing project with the piece of hand quilted quilt that was tacked to the back. I however got it for only $5. I have this window below, out in the garden above the swing. It is rotting due to the weather and years of being out there, so I wanted to find one to replace it. Now I have one!
We stopped at a tent that a couple of Mennonite guys were selling beautiful plants at really good prices. I got even better prices since they were getting ready to pack up and go home. Now I have to get to planting these in the garden.
Lastly, I got two white milk glass items for $1. You will never guess what I am going to do with them!
When I collect more items to go with these, they will be converted into GARDEN ART sort of like these below!
So creative and each one is limited only by your imagination!

Another Willow Tree figurine, but with a missing blue bird, but for 25¢, I can't complain. I do see a fix of her arm in her future, I just need to figure out what it will be. |
Initially, I bought these coasters for my daughter's new apartment, but since I am hosting a large bible study group this summer in my home, I decided that I needed more coasters, so they are mine. |
Scrapbooking numbers and letters are not just for scrapbooking. Think, hang tags for fun decorating! |
Aren't these old purple bottles just 2-die-4? Only 50¢ for all!!! I did the research on these (eBay) and found out they are worth $9 and up for EACH! Wow |
At 50¢, how could I not buy this floor lamp? I will see if my daughter wants it for her apartment, if not, I can sell it at my antique mall booth and make a few bucks. |
Old Window, it doesn't look like it's rotting, but it is! |
Lastly, I got two white milk glass items for $1. You will never guess what I am going to do with them!

You always find the nicest things! I love those bottles! and I've been looking for a window pane like that forever! None of them are that great of a deal though ($30 and up). I can't justify paying that much for something I'll just use as decoration:) Can't wait to see what you do w/ all these treasures!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the idea of using the milk glass to make garden art ~ I'll be watching to see what you come up with! Those purple bottles are beautiful and they are very expensive and rare around here!

RAINBOW-The Colours of India
Those are the greatest finds, and so inexpensive!! I love milk glass, too.
ReplyDeleteLove all your treasures! Especially those purple bottles!! Score!!
ReplyDeleteGreat find on those purple bottles. I just paid $10 for one similar to the largest one. Don't know if you know, but the dealer told me that they were suppose to be clear, but when left in the sun, there's something (forget the chemical...maybe zinc?) in them that makes them turn purple. I believe if you leave them in a window, they will get much darker (but I like them the color they are). Was wondering if you mind if I post your ornament photo on my pinterest page? Please leave a comment on my blog, your blog, or e-mail me. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWhat great finds! I have to go shopping with you! The bottles are probably my favorite. Or the window pane. Or...

Yard sales are the best! I have a weakness for vintage-y glass bottles and have been known to dig through strangers' recycling bins looking for pretty ones. So, don't be alarmed if your purple bottles disappear ;)
ReplyDeleteI love the garden art! That is so neat. Great buys on all the neat stuff. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI'm really digging on the purple bottles, but I love old bottles.
ReplyDeleteThose garden arts are fabulous...Inever would have thought.
Great finds!!
I Love,Love your garden art! This is so something that makes me smile because I am always glueing(sp) something to something else! I have been doing more furniture as of late, but you have just inspired me to go to my glassware finds shelve and try something new. I love your blog! I am just getting started in this blogging thing, but I am finding so many great things. Thanks for yours!

I just won an auction of beach/sea glass for a huge jar. It has a large piece of purple which is very rare! I can't make out enough letters - but am trying to find out more info. I was wondering if you wuldn't mind emailing me a few pics of any of your purple bottles with lettering if it's in a curved shape? The letters I can make out are C T. There is one before - and one after - the first one - I can't guess. The last letter might be an N or M? They are absolutely beautiful bottles! Congrats on such a great find! Thxs!
