Week 14 ~ Diamonds In The Rough!

Diamonds In The Rough! is my weekly feature, where I show you the treasures that I find from garage sales, thrift stores and antique stores.

This weekend sales were few for two reasons; Hubby was home with me on vacation and it's a holiday weekend. (Fourth of July) So we just hit a couple and called it good.

I went to one garage sale that said it was an estate sale. Usually a good sign that I can get smalls (glass items) and furniture real cheap.  That was the case with this sale.  Just look at this bench. At only $4, I didn't even want to dicker with the owner. I will be transforming this into a real beauty, real soon.
Then there was several tables of smalls (glass items). Nothing had prices, but the lady told me to pile up what I wanted and she would make me a deal. So I piled and piled and piled. I got all you see below for only $3 for the teacups, two pitchers, frame and all the glass ware!!!

Six cup and saucers and a string of pearls.
Not quite the ironstone pitchers that I collect, but beauties anyway.
Metal frame from Italy. Remember what I did with another one like it? (below)
I will be doing the same with my newly acquired one.
Are you seeing what I am?
Yes, more garden art, but this time to sell.

This one turned out so pretty. It was cold in the house and when I took it outside for pictures, the condensation started on the glass.
Hubby and I went to another sale and found these...
Yep, another feed sack, $5.
More glass for...more garden art used in above picture.

NOTE: You should be able to click on most of the pictures to enlarge to see further details.

  2. Great bench, Terry! That one has potential written all over it! : ) Love that metal frame, too. I love the ornate ones like that. They always look so whimsical as chalkboards or memo boards.

  8. Great finds...I saw something this wkend in Ohio: They were garden art glassware like ours, however they were 3 pieces, a plate, smaller bowl and a star candlestick, all stacked and glued BUT put sideways onto a rod so they resembled flowers - hope you can imagine what I am describing...just something a bit different than these! Looking forward to seeing what you do with the bench!

  15. You are a woman after my own heart! I asked you before what kind of glue you use on your "yard art", and decided to try E 6000 with a clear sealant over the seams...so far so good, but have only done one. Have not posted it on my blog yet. Teapots, teacups and all related items are just my style. Love your ideas!..Thanks!
