I found two beautiful framed prints of topiarys. They were large and the frames were ornate. I paid too much for them to call them a DEAL, but overall the frames alone were worth the price.
One of the two prints |
When I had time to step back and review my purchase of these two topiary framed prints, I realized that even though they were attractive and framed and matted well, they were still dated by almost a decade.
What to do with them now? Trash them? No! Think outside the box. Recycle them! Yes!!
So, I took them apart and used the foam core backing. After spraying on adhesive to the board, I placed on two layers of batting and cut to size. I then found material that would work for each. I used coordinating ribbon and buttons and WA-LA...Padded material, Ribboned and framed to become bulletin boards.
I adore the toile print I used on this one even though it is for sale.
For the next one, I had my client in mind and used an animal print fabric. This one is also more versatile because it can be hung horizontal or vertical.
What did I do with the glass? Recycle it! of course. My client wants me to frame many prints for their study. So, I took the glass to a glass store and they cut it up to size for my frames. A win-win don't you think?
