I finally made my new valances and they came out pretty good, if I don't say so myself.
Did you know that I adore Toile...any Toile?
But before we look at them further, let's review...
In the kitchen window, I made these valances that seem very popular with my blog viewers. I made up this design and just 'winged it' as I went along.
I love the look of these with the rod and rings. However in the bay window of my dining area, I had used the same fabric and made rod pocket valances that were different but coordinated...
But, I still longed for the rod and ring look. One day I happened upon two long rods with rings at a thrift store, brand new and still in their shrink wrap for only $2 each. I was thrilled and cut one rod in two to get the three rods that I needed. All I had to purchase was the wooden elbows.
So now what?, I asked myself. I felt that I wanted a lighter fabric that would still coordinate with the kitchen valance, and then I fell in love with this fabric at Ballard Designs...
I adore toile and this was just what I was looking for. It took a long time to finally find the right color check fabric for the coordinating material that I needed, but I finally found something close enough on ebay.
I turned off the color on the above photo so you can see the details better. Red check on the top and on the reverse side of the bells. The hem is corded with the same toile fabric. And they are lined with white lining.
I am happy with the new look, so what do you think?
