You probably didn't even miss me, but we have been gone to Vegas Baby!
If you are ever going and can catch a show, you should see Terry Fator! He won America's Got Talent in 2008 and puts on a really well done and funny show.
On with the Settee project...
Before we left, I was working like crazy on our new MUD ROOM that I will show you later, however for now, I will show you how I breathed new life into an antique settee that I purchased at a garage sale for only $20!
The lady that I bought this settee from had already done the hard work for me...she stripped it but never finished it. I told her that I could make it beautiful.
Knowing that I was going to use it in the new Mud Room to sit on when putting on shoes, I chose upholstery that would coordinate with my theme of grey-blue and white. Also I needed upholstery fabric that could stand up to wear. Here is the after...
Didn't she just turn out great? And it was so easy. All I had to do was sand and clean her good. Then break out my Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White. I also distressed her a bit for more character...
I then selected some fabric that had a background of denim from the free fabric swatches that I received from a friend. I happened to have two large swatches, just enough to do both seats. See the grey-blue in the fabric? I then used coordinating tan fabric and made a double welting to trim the edges.
I can't seem to do anything like this without making a fun coordinating pillow...
And now she is just 'too cute' sitting on the grey-blue floor with the new beadboard walls that I will be showing you soon!
