Week 19 ~ Diamonds In The Rough!

Diamonds In The Rough! is my weekly feature, where I show you the treasures that I find from garage sales, thrift stores and antique stores.

We hit the Mother-load AGAIN this weekend. As I always find, at the beginning of garage sale season and towards the end of garage sale season, they tend to have better pickin's.

Solid Walnut display case, hubby was happy I found this, he drilled more holes for pins inside to hold more than one glass shelf. At $8, this was a good buy and he will display his collections in this.

I've always loved these, but they will go in my booth.

Two old washboards for my booth.

Milk glass for my booth.

A cute glass lamp that I will rewire and put in my booth. The white ceramic pedestal is not old but cute and petite.

See how sweet the pedestal looks with my kitchen decor?

1959 lady head and old hotel cup for my booth.

Yet another watering can for my growing collection. I need to quit buying these! This makes #12.

An old green pitcher, a nut grinder and a shoe form. I will surprise you with what I do with this shoe form on another post.

An old fan for my booth. Hubby is good at cleaning these up.

I have a soft spot for the patina of old floral prints. These will be put in my booth.

Two 9 x 11 old prints...more for my booth.

I thought this bar height old chair was interesting. I will put a wonderful seat on it and sell it.

I also have a love of old picnic baskets. Great for their patina and perfect for storage. This will go to my booth.

An oval silver tray that is footed and reticulated. It's a nice size and interesting.

Now doesn't the tray look really nice all polished and standing up as a backdrop to my other silver pieces? Goes to show you that old yucky garage sale pieces can look good with a little creativity and elbow grease! In fact, everything you see in this picture (except for the straws & tassels) were garage sale finds and all total about $5!
