Week 24 ~ Diamonds In The Rough!

Diamonds In The Rough! is my weekly feature, where I show you the treasures that I find from garage sales, thrift stores and antique stores.

This week, I was so fun and I have so many small stories to share. As I always find that fall garage sales are some of the best ever!!!

Now is my time to share with you these treasures and stories. This first item is an old typewriter. The old guy (about 75ish) said that it had been his in college and he typed all his papers on it. I offered him $10 since it wasn't priced and he took it. My Hubby loves to collect, restore/clean these and display them in our home. So far we have six so he says that he will get rid of one that I will take to my booth. Only so many typewriters we can display, don't you think?
At this same garage sale, they also had this stool for $1.
Remember this large needlepoint from two weeks ago?
Well, I took it out of this old frame and washed it. It is now ready to become a beautiful top for this stool! I hope it is large enough for this stool top.

This next item was in the free pile at a garage sale where they had tons of wonderful fall decor...cheap. She did her wedding with all this stuff and was selling it.
Here are some of the florals that I purchased. These are just loose florals that I will use in a display.
And a sweet beaded pumpkin. (Not pictured are several spools of ribbon)
At this same garage sale, I found a $2 rooster chalkboard! What is my kitchen done in? Roosters! What color is my kitchen? Deep Red! This was meant for my kitchen.
Okay, now this next garage sale was upscale. I was intrigued by this box.
Yes, I must be a bit sheltered because I had never heard of Brighton. So I opened the box and saw this bag. Do you know that it is yet?
Yep, you guessed it! A very nice leather handbag.

But wait, stop and look at the price she wanted and the original price sticker of $260! One of these sold on ebay recently for $140!
I took it to church on Sunday!

Next, I had a great string of finding antiques and only antiques. Sweet! These needlepoint birds had my name written all over them. They are in antique bubble glass frames and I think they are perfect for me to display in my green toile guest bedroom.
Don't you think they go perfect with the needlepoint bell pull of birds that I have in there?
See the glass pedestal in the back? I found this antique beauty at another garage sale that day.
Sometimes when I go to sales, I am attracted to something that leads me to a real surprise. I first saw this courtly check tissue paper much like MacKenzie Childs that I am wild for. The tissue paper was wrapped around...
This, a set of West Virginia Glass Pitcher and glasses! Such a fun set that I will love selling in my booth.
Then on to the cute fun things. A fun wooden red with frost HOHOHO sign.
 Another fun Christmas sign.
Some real beauties, vintage flower prints, roses (after my middle name) and a floral garden of roses and hollyhocks. What could be more pleasurable for me to view?
For 50¢, I found these lovely vintage Christmas ornaments.
Look closely, see the very special ones?
On to more furniture. I have never seen a tiny table like this before and thought it would be fun in my booth. Of course, I will make a bit of a change to it.
The lady that sold this stool to me said that it came from Europe with a matching vanity. No vanity in sight but I grabbed up this solid walnut pretty. I will revamp the material part of the seat and sell it. Maybe if the needlepoint won't fit on the larger stool, it would fit on this one. Maybe even better since the green will look so nice with the walnut wood.

See what fun I had for little money? Come with me next week and hopefully it will be even better!

  8. I want to shop where you shop. Those are amazing finds and the prices are unbelievable. I can't believe the basket was FREE. I never buy baskets, but I would have paid for that one. Then the purse. (I've never heard of Brighton either, but what a steal.) I could go on and on. What a great haul!
