My MacKenzie Childs Inspiration Christmas Tree 2011

I was lucky enough to find a pre-lit 5 foot Christmas Tree in a big red pot after Christmas last year while shopping at Marshall's. Don't you just love that place?

It was $50 and the only flaw was a small chip on the bottom edge of the pot. No worries, an opportunity for creativity right?

I am a huge fan of MacKenzie Childs and their Courtly Check design, I decided to paint the base of the red pot in that design. Combined with the upper red part, I think it looks fantastic and covered the flaw.

Since I have 10 foot ceiling in my living room, I placed the tree on one of those inexpensive three legged tables covered with a table cloth that I had on hand.
Before I added the white poinsettias

Then I went crazy decorating. All summer, I had collected silver cream and sugar bowls at garage sales for 50¢. I tied them with ribbon that I found at Sam's Club for a whimsical tree.
I also made Courtly Check looking ball ornaments that I posted a tutorial on HERE.
And I hand painted wooden stocking ornaments for my family.
Combined with a black snowman hat that I made several years ago and glitter stems, I am pleased with the whimsical and fun way the whole tree came out.

My friend Patti @ Pandora's Box actually went to MacKenzie Childs store recently and took a picture of their tree. I had already made my tree by this time, all I did after I saw the MC tree was add white poinsettias to mine. I do have a teapot that I painted like theirs that I could have added to the top, but I really like the look of the black snowman hat I made, so I left it alone. Here's a comparison...

Exactly, if not better than I had envisioned!
