A Bit More Of A MacKenzie Childs Christmas

Based on my last post about getting rid of some of my overloaded Christmas decor, it was a split on people that believe that you can't have too much Christmas decor and others like me that want to simplify the huge process of storing so much stuff for 11 months out of the year and then killing themselves with putting it all out in record time to enjoy for...a month!

This year, not only have I given away decor, but I also have done something that I normally don't do...I have incorporated my normal everyday collections into my decorating scheme.
That holds true for my kitchen and dining rooms. I lightly decorated my chandelier with a bit of greenery and simple tied ribbon, sans the shades. I had just painted the silver tea service that resembles MacKenzie Childs Courtly Check.
So continuing on with that theme. I made my own version of MacKenzie Childs Chard Trees.
I am even willing to let them go if someone was interested in making me an offer $$ on them.
My buffet started with this...
A perfect vintage table scarf...A garage sale find for a quarter! Yep, only 25¢!
Then to this buffet-scape! Out came my silver coffeepots, loving cup trophies and silver teapots.
A bit of greenery, A few silver and light gold balls and many small trees later...
See the framed deer?
I saw this done and thought it was cute. My version above is a vintage frame with convex glass allowing me to add a red pompom nose and make him into Rudolph. And using my Silhouette Portrait to cut out the deer shape in black cardstock.
While I was at it, I made a couple of more to sell in my booth.
However, you can see how I incorporated Rudolph into my buffet theme that adds whimsy...
Then a simple bow here...I accidentally broke the glass globe on this new lantern! Easy come, easy go!
Another tree there...
Lastly, getting my famous hand-painted jello mold tree out for display!

  1. How about you have an Etsy shop? I keep hoping you will. :)

Your MacKenzie childs projects are gorgeous. Love your kitchen.

  2. Looks wonderful - your teapot/creamer and sugar came out great! Did you paint the colors on the white squares of your checked fabric! I have started mine, but put it aside til after the holidays! Wis w elided in the same neighborhood!! :-)

  3. I love anything MC checked, and hope to do my kitchen tree in that this year....if I ever get around to it! Love yours, thanks for sharing. Vicki in Louisville KY

  4. It all looks so beautiful Terry, but can I add--how beaUtiful your house is!
I especially love the bowed/bay breakfast area! Just gorgeous!

  5. ~BTW, madly in love with that paint color!
    What is it-??

  6. I am a MC fan so all of your decorations are just lovely. I still haven't tried one yet - one of these days. I love your hand painted jello molds. They are fabulous.
    Have a great weekend,

  7. Love everything the MC is outstanding. Your jello mold tree is beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing.

  8. I love how you used black and white to decorate for Christmas. You've taken traditional Christmas bows, and combined it with something non tradition. It looks great.

  10. This is unique idea Terry! I have got to do some of your ideas in my home. I love the way you introduced the Mc theme. Surely my daughter and wife love to see it too. Have a wonderful Christmas!

  11. Love everything!!! Like that you chose to step out of the "norm" and decorated in black and white! I'm pinning this one to our board!!! Thanks for linking up to DIY Sunday Showcase!!

  12. Oh wow, everything is so pretty and I love the chandy too. It looks amazing with the polka dot ribbons. Your mold tree is fantastic. Gorgeous decorations. Thanks tons for linking to Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty

  13. I love this, so much fun. My favourite is the tea cup set, what a great piece to have in your collection :)

  14. Thanks for your posting about using things you already had. Sometimes we get so caught up in making our decor gorgeous and buying new things to achieve that state of "gorgeosity" that we forget about the nice things we already own. BTY, I, too, am a fan of MC and just go nuts for the back and white checks so often found in their designs. Lots of inspiration in your lovely photos. Thanks again!

  15. Beautiful as always, Terry! Love your black and white mixed in with Christmas décor. Like you, some years I simplify, others I go all out. Depends on how much time I have to decorate that year. Merry Christmas, Catherine

  16. I adore that hand-painted jello mold tree! Everything looks very festive!

  17. Beautiful, Terry. I, too, wanted to cut back on the huge amount of Christmas stuff I have but my 26 year old son got the stuff out anyway. Oh, well, hope you are enjoying the season. Linda

  18. We love your decorations. Thank you so much for sharing with Adorned From Above’s Link Party. We love having your join the fun.
Debi and Charly @ Adorned From Above

  19. Hi, love your decorations and talent. You are blessed! Perhaps instead of offering your MC Trees to the Best Offer, give them to someone who is not as fortunate. Merry Christmas to you and your family and thank you for sharing your talents.

It makes me smile to hear from you!
