SnowDay~Creating & Moving Furniture

After
We have been having snow for the past two days. I am snowed in and that's not a bad thing.

So I decided to take the opportunity and re-decorate, re-arrange, re-do, and re-vamp.

I went from room to room looking for something to change...make better. This stool in the kitchen was first on the list. I added the black and white check to the legs.

Feel free to click on any picture to enlarge.

Next on the list was the white Ice Skates. I never embellished them on the shoe area like I did the black ones that I have. So I added glitter, the words 'snow' in scrap-booking embellishments and snowflakes.
Before
After...I even added twigs with snowflakes next to the skates.

Close-up
On to the upstairs bedrooms. We just went from a queen bed to a king bed and I felt that the furniture was a bit tight, so I decided to re-arrange the furniture and that led to the wall decor too. I find that if you keep a close/coordinating color pallet throughout most of your house, it not only flows better, but you can grab something from one room and put it easily into another. Basically, shop your own house. So I moved this white dresser from the Other Guest Bedroom to the Master Bedroom since it is smaller.

White dresser in Master bedroom currently.
In this location, below the TV was our faux fireplace. Since it is more narrow...and portable, I moved it where the dresser had been by the bed.

Oak dresser in Master went to the other guest bedroom.

Notice the upper wall return vent in the above picture? I always paint them the color of the wall so they disappear instead of having a white grate on a colored wall. Simple to do, just use your wall paint. Then I moved some of the decor on the walls. And I put together a new piece of wall art.
Married a left-over new kitchen door to wire art purchased on Etsy.

The great thing about this display...it can be changed...my middle name! LOL

My kids, old photos, a bird and a tassel.

Moved rose print to this side of the room between plates.
Now that left me with the oak dresser in the other guest bedroom. It now looks like this.
Oak dresser now in the other guest bedroom with different art and stuff on top of dresser.

I think it works okay...for now!

I also made this angel wing display...

I truly love change and think it's from moving a whole lot while growing up in the Air Force. I went to 14 different schools in several states before I was in the ninth grade. I always looked forward to a new home and ways to make our existing furniture work. I don't get attached to my 'stuff' because I sell most of it and end up with better or just different pieces. What's more fun than that? Now let's wait to see what hubby says when he comes home tonight! Terry

  16. The skates look great. I have a pair but I have hesitated to alter them. They fit me perfectly and I'm afraid I would get laughed at if I skated in them!! LOL!
