Bye, Bye Valance!

I made a pretty valance, for the bay window in my dining room, a year or so ago.
I decided to take the Christmas holiday as my opportunity to put up what I really wanted, a white wooden rod with rings.

Why mess with a good thing you ask? Well, I have made the decision to use the rings during the month of December to hang Christmas decor. This forces my hand to...
Make a NEW Valance AFTER Christmas! I will be making new valances that work with this rod and rings. I must get my creative hat on now. I will show you the new valances when I get them made.
Cool shadow on the wall of the snowflakes.

  1. It's a beautiful change, Terry! Luv the addition of the snowflakes!

  2. I really like this! Great idea. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Very cute idea! Love it.

The floral fabric you used on your valance is the same that I once had on a chair and ottoman. I still like the fabric very much.

  4. How fun. I like the new rod and the decor hanging from it is so pretty. Hugs, marty

  5. What a great way to hang Christmas decorations!

  6. Very cute and different! I wish I could make curtains. andrea@townandprairie

  7. Nice idea for the Holidays, I really love the little ribbons you used at the top too! But please keep those valances -- they are gorgeous! Just put them away somewhere and, trust me, you will find them one day and say: "These are gorgeous, I'm ready to put them up again!"

  8. so clever and festive...enjoy it!!...Happy decorating, Mariaelena

  9. Thanks for leaving me a sweet note. I'm glad to visit your place. I love those snowflakes!!! What a terrific idea! I'm your newest follower and am excited to explore your blog Terry!!!

  11. Love how the snowflakes look against all the white, beautiful!

  12. What a fun and whimsical way to embrace the joy of the season! I'd be thrilled if you came and linked this up to the Head to Head Showdown, going on right now at www.icantstopcrafting.blogspot.com

  13. Love your snowflakes...I did something similar in my living room of my last home, except I used gold...they look so festive in your kitchen. As for the M-C ribbon, it is actually from their store and it is not wired. A roll cost $60.00 and you can get it online. The only problem I have is that the checks are very creamy-colored and my M-C knockoff ornaments are very white (and it looks "dirty" beside it), so I made the stockings with it. You could buy B&W checked fabric and "dull" the white with cream paint (and drag some colors thru it) as an alternative - I have done this before and it works well - good luck, anxious to see your decorations!!

  14. This is so cute, I love it! Thanks for sharing...visiting from Creative Blogger Party and Hop

  15. This is fabulous! I am having a Christmas Linky Carnival and would love for you to link up! http://blissfulanddomestic.blogspot.com/2011/11/homemade-in-december-link-carnival.html

  16. ooh, love it! i need to do something like this over my sofa which is in front of a bow window. must find snowflakes...

  17. I just love it...Fantastic idea...I would love for you to share it at my "Anything Goes" Linky party...

  18. Different is not necessarily better. Your valance was Christmasy in and of itself. The snowflakes look skimpy.

I know "blog speak" is supposed to be cutesty and gushy but there is a place for truth!!!

You still inspire me but not here. Keep up the awesome creativity.

  19. What a great idea! I love it. I enjoy changing things up too. I can't wait to see your new curtains, but for now the Christmas snowflakes looks beautiful!

    Have a sweet day, Elizabeth

  20. Great idea, Terry! The snowflakes look so festive! Looking forward to seeing the new valance you create.

Thanks for linking up at Knick of Time Tuesday!

Did you enter to win the Canvas Photo Print yet? These are perfect for Christmas!

  21. Cool idea!! The red really stands out with the white background, love it!
    Well done! Happy creating!!

  22. Oooh, love the look! I plan on doing something similar to this in a little nook area in my kitchen with white ones. We finally put a light in it earlier this year when the hubby was laid off.

It makes me smile to hear from you!
