MacKenzie Childs Inspiration #6 & #7

Continuing the saga of my love for anything MacKenzie Childs...I saw this courtly check pitcher and it was the inspiration left in my head when I found a shop that allows clients to paint pottery.  I picked out a pitcher and they provide the correct paints. I just painted away in colors that didn't look like the color it said on the bottle...but I had faith. After I finished they said to come back in two weeks and it would be fired and ready. Here is what my painted pitcher looked like when I came back to pick my project up. I really thought it came out looking really fun (below).
Look closely at the fireplace mantel...yep, there is the pitcher!

I also saw these two pieces on the MacKenzie Childs website and just loved them.

Can you tell that I am so in love with courtly check, black and white anything. I adore the whimsy of these pieces. Unusual, sorta crazy and just fun. So again using this as my inspiration, I put a spin on a stool/table that I picked up at a garage sale.

Yes, I know that mine has a completely different spin but I have to get inspired somewhere. You should be able to click on each picture to enlarge them, click again and they get huge for seeing details. Use your back button to return to the blog. Terry

  1. Terry, I love that little stool you painted. I like the way you put so many details into your pieces. I especially like the shades of red and green. And the compass rose on top makes the piece. Stunning! The flowers painted on the sides are very pretty, too. I wish I lived close to you so you could teach me your tricks!

  2. Oh i love MK too.But there prices are to high. Love your pieces.

  3. Beautiful! You are a very talented artist and your little table is an inspiration! You were inspired to create your own little masterpiece.

  4. Beautiful! The table is an absolute inspiration!

  5. Just last week I asked someone where they got their incredible stacked candy stand and they referred me to Mackenzie Childs website. I was blown away by how wonderful everything was, but yes I was also blown away by the prices. I have followed all of your Mackenzie Childs inspirational links. You have some really serious talent and I love your reproductions. Someday I might try one. The chair and tuffet I think are my favorites. Extremely fun.

  6. I LOVE it, Terry! I am also a fan of the whimsy of MacKenzie Childs. That table you did is exactly something I'd be drooling over, until I saw the price! You can take satisfaction in the fact that with a little bit of your own labor, you got yourself a table that probably sells for hundreds of dollars. Good job! : )

  7. Terry, you did a great job on that table - wow! It is so cute. Linda

  8. I am new to your blog...but loving every second of it! I am always re-decorating my house...painting pieces and searching the junk shops for something to bring back to life! I love your blog!
I am a new follower and hope to have lots of time to come visit and see all that you have been doing! For now...I am off to look at more of your pretty past projects!
    Merry Christmas!!!!

  9. Ummmm.....Can you say TALENTED? Love love this and your made skills! Thanks for stopping by!

    love your guts

  10. OMGosh..I am such a huge fan of CC. My signature colors for my home..black and white with touches of red. Black and white checks, stripes, polka dots...
I think you did an amazing job on both your projects. I don't paint and can't afford MC pieces so I have to depend on thrift stores and Christmas gifts. :))
I have a few pieces of CC..the large tea kettle, a beautiful tiered piece that was a gift, a couple of canisters, a tiny Christmas ornament, also a gift.
I am your newest follower and I hope you will come over, follow and see my love for black and white, too. :)

  17. Terry, thanks for stopping by to visit and inviting me over to see your MacKenzie Childs inspiration pieces. You are a talented lady. Love the pitcher. ;-)
